The Politicization of Criminal Justice: A Non-Partisan Forum – Event Recap
Good Ground had the privilege of organizing “The Politicization of Criminal Justice: A Non-Partisan Forum,” held on September 27, 2024 at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC. This exclusive forum gathered thought leaders from the legal and policy sectors for an in-depth, non-partisan discussion on the intersection of politics and criminal justice.
With rising concerns about the "politicization" of criminal justice, our panel of defense attorneys, former prosecutors, judges, and journalists explored how political pressures can shape investigations, prosecutions, and judicial decisions. They also examined current cases and discussed the safeguards in place to prevent abuses of power. Building on the dialogue Good Ground founder Bruce Searby started in March 2019, this event aimed to foster non-partisan conversation and help strengthen public trust in the justice system. Distinguished speakers included counsel for President Biden, Hunter Biden, the Office of White House Counsel, former President Trump, the U.S. House of Representatives January 6th Committee, and Dr. Anthony Fauci, as well as leading journalists and a federal district judge.
We are incredibly grateful to the distinguished speakers and to the sponsors (Searby PLLC, Schertler Onorato, Mead & Sears LLP, Winston & Strawn LLP, and Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP) who helped bring this event to life. We look forward to organizing many more events together in the future. Please follow us for updates on similar events, our next event is already in the works!
